Chris & Taunya's Wedding

On June 13th, my brother and Taunya got married and finally joined together their big, beautiful blended family. The ceremony was quick but touching. It was held under a big maple tree on my parents' property which ajoins my brother's. It was a quick walk over to my brother's home for a fun and laid back reception.
Summer weddings are hot, so they kept things casual and comfortable for everyone. The reception was catered by the bride's mom and grandmother who did a fantastic job! They chose a menu that matched the occasion with summer favorites like barbecue, cole slaw, potato salad, fresh fruit, chicken salad croissants and various other finger foods. It was perfect and beautifully presented!
Of course, to add just a little bit of redneck flair, my brother had to take Taunya for a quick 4-wheeler ride around Weyers Cave. I doubt that's an idea they found in the Knot.
The kids, though, would not be content without the cake. In fact, for them, I am pretty sure the entire weekend revolved around cake. "Be good during the ceremony, and you get cake." "Keep your outfit clean, and you get cake." They were highly motivated to earn an extra big slice - especially since Taunya gave them a buttercream icing preview the night before. I made the cake for them, which was really special for me because I was happy I could contribute in some small way to this happy day.
After the reception was over, later that evening they threw a big party complete with a backyard bonfire, guitars, drums, harmonicas and...I think there were some beverages. ;-) It lasted until about 3am....I hear. There were about 50 people and everyone had a great time. The best part of the entire weekend was just seeing my brother so happy!
A homemade SHMILY...See How Much I Love You.
